National Cadet Corps (N.C.C.)

The Senior Division N.C.C. has only one unit in our College. The Army wing (infantry wing) N.C.C. of this college functions under the control of the 6th Orissa Battalion N.C.C, Puri. The sanctioned strength of our Army Wing N.C.C. is 40. A division for girls is also opened in our college with 10 cadets. The aims of NCC is

  • To develop character, service and capacity for leadership in young men and women

  • To provide service training to young men and women so as to stimulate interest in the defence of the country.

  • To build up a reserve of potential officers to help the armed force in a national emergency.

Enrolment :

  • Enrolment to Army Wing N.C.C. is open to all students who satisfy the prescribed levels of physical fitness.

  • The students desirous of enrolling themselves should be between the age group of 14 to 16 years of age and should be in the 1st year of +2 or +3 Class.

  • Preference is given to students with experience in Junior Division N.C.C. or in Scouts and Guides.

  • Students with the certificate in NCC and possession of various camp certificates are given preference over other general Cadets.

  • Enrolment forms can be had from NCC officer of the College. Enrolment forms duly filled in, must reach the NCC Officer before the scheduled date fixed for it.

  • Training commences usually in the month of July or August and continues for six months in an academic year. The NCC classes are held on every Sunday between 7.30 A.M. to 11.30 A.M inside the College Campus.Training is given on Drill, Weapon, Map Reading, Field Craft and First Aid.

  • In addition to the lectures and demonstrations, various outdoor training camps are organised during an academic year. They include camps like Republic Day camps, National Integration Camps, Trekking and Mountaineering, Parasailing, Basic leadership Camps, Army Attachment Camps, Cycle Expedition and Annual Training Camps, etc.

  • Refreshment and washing allowance for the cadets will be provided during the period of training.

  • Students with NCC certificate are always given preference over other students in competitive examinations. A graduate with certificate in N.C.C. is eligible for direct Commission in the Army. Students with and certificate in NCC are given, weightage over and above the marks secured by them for admission into the +2 and +3 classes of Govt. College.

  • N.C.C Cadets during II and III year of training are eligible to appear at certificate examination, provided they have attended 75% of parades and atleast one or two camps during their training in the Senior Division.

  • N.C.C Military Science has been introduced as a subject in the University. Military Science as a curriculum introduced in some of the Indian Universities is a part of the New Education Policy.

  • Recently the Director General N.C.C New Delhi has introduced a number of scholarships for meritorious and outstanding Cadets which are awarded every year.

  • The Duke of Edinburgh Award in the form of Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals are awarded to outstanding N.C.C Cadets annually for community and social services
