The Department of Botany aims at inculcating the realm of the subject through class room teaching, seminar activities, field trips and outreach programmes.

Teachers accompany students on field trips for acquainting them with common plants, their names and diversity of the College Campus and Chandaka-Dampara Sanctuary. Students prepare Herbarium sheets of wild plants, aiming at establishing a small Herbarium in the Department.

The Degree Laboratory have instruments, such as Hot-air oven. table-top centrifuge, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, pH meter, Autoclave, Laminar air-flow ang Binocular microscopes. Students are encouraged to learn microbial techniques- sterilisation, preparation of agar plates, and inoculation.

Teachers and students make power point presentation for better illustration of the subject. Students Seminar, invited lectures, outreach programs visiting Research institutions and Experiment stations are frequent events of the Botany Department.
